Slashed Breeches and Doublet for Vinny of "The Magnificent Humble Boys"

This Renaissance style costume was created for Vinny, half of the hilarity that is "The Magnificent Humble Boys." The paned breeches are brown twill and brown textured heavy cotton. The doublet is made of the same fabric with brilliant blue accents. The accents are either hand embroidered (on the slashing) or created with biased tape. The sleeves are removable via eyelets and leather straps. He has been wearing this combo since its completion for the last Renaissance Pleasure Faire in Erwindale, CA in 2011.

The Vagina Monologues: Costume Designs 2010

For this production of "The Vagina Monologues," the director wanted the performers to be clothed from their own wardrobe. I met with each woman and was able to obtain a general earth-tone pallet for the stage. On top of these earth tones, each woman also wore a shock of red in different places. The theme was "strong women throughout time," and so the red fabric was made into a flower for the hair, a scarf, a sash, an armband, and an ascot, among others. Sewing Projects: Simple Skirts

 These cute summer skirts were made from flannel, a fabric I love to use for apparel.

This jumper skirt has removable straps and opens with a side zipper. The skirt is gathered at the hip line for a modern look.

 This short, three tiered skirt opens with a hidden zipper in the back. The gathering of the layers gives the skirt a slight fullness without being overly poofy. This summer I will hopefully be posting some tutorials on these! Stay tuned!

Corsetry: Modern Underbust Corset from Man's Suit

 This three layer underbust corset was created from the pants of a two piece mens' suit with small blue and red pinstripes. The pattern for the corset was drafted using the model's measurements and tweaked over two fittings. The model is wearing the matching jacket of the original suit. The corset is boned with half inch spiral steel boning placed directly behind each panel seam. The drafted and altered pattern pieces can be seen below.

Corsetry: Back and Gold Victorian era Overbust

 This three layered corset was created from the Laughing Moon Merchantile's Victorian corset pattern, which was heavily altered. The fabric was a black ultra-suede with gold roses. The corset was custom made for the model over a set of three fittings. For the final touch, several store bought trims were accentuated, broken down, and hand sewn on in the "passementerie" style of decoration. Tiny gold beads were also incorporated along the trim and down the back.

Crafts!: Steampunk Style Hip Flasks

 I have made close to 100 flasks over the last few years, for individuals as well as wedding gifts for groomsmen. No two flasks are exactly identical, as they are made from scratch. Some are made to order and other designs are created from materials I find or have on hand. I use a combination of techniques including leatherworking, sewing, some metalworking, and resin work. With the use of Photoshop I can create custom images to incorporate for my customers. I enjoy making a variety of variations of these flasks; some are more for women, some are more vintage, and others have a little punk in them.

Ongoing Comic Project: The Masquerade

I began this comic a few years ago. The story, inks, and color (tones) are done by me. I used old fashioned screen tone sheets for the shaded effects; only the words were done on the computer.
A young woman is treated like an outcast for the horn-shaped deformities on her head. She begins to escape her reality by attending a mysterious Masquerade party deep in the forest. Behind a mask no one can tell she is any different... or so she thinks. There may be a greater secret than hers hiding behind the other masks.

Steampunk Characters: Costume Renderings

Dr. Harvey Whitaker, renown ornithologist and adventurer who is caretaker to a large collection of rare birds. Though much of his background is shrouded in mystery, no one can deny he is an intelligent and kind gentleman.

Miss Camilla Fairfax, widow and owner of the Kit-Kat club. Known by many as a Mistress, she takes very good care of the girls who work at her club.

Katrina Lockheart, a voluptuous assassin with deadly skill. Her father was a mercenary who taught her only to protect herself, but when she was 16 she ran away and immersed herself in the killing arts.

Miss Minnie Catharsis is a delicate southern woman from an upper class family. While she dallies in adventures from time to time, she never fails to take all the amenities... as well as at least 10 bodyguards.
